Month 1 of 12 complete.
So when I took on my 365 Project, I never thought that taking ONE picture everyday would be as challenging as it has been. Mostly I think it's been too cold to go outside and frankly, winter just feels ugly and depressing if there isn't a fresh coat of snow on the ground. It's not like Christmas time when there are pretty lights on people's houses, or your own Christmas tree and decorations to enjoy. I often find myself looking for things around my house to take pictures of, and sadly, they are often boring. lol
I really hope Spring will be here soon so I can start spending more time outside and I won't break one of my goals. Taking pictures of Marley everyday is verrrry tempting. He's the cutest dog ever! But then again, I'm his human, so I'm really biased :)
I hope that February brings more inspiration and better weather. Does anyone have any ideas of things I can photograph?
Have a great weekend everyone!
This polar vortex thing has me yearning for warm sunny days. Too cold for me outside. I'll just stay here next to the fire. At least I got to play around with a long exposure time to make the flames feathery and fancy. Insert ooooo's and aaahhh's here.
Stay warm y'all!
Sarah and I met when we worked together at a seasonal store. I'm so glad that we were able to stay friends and stay in touch after the store closed.
She wanted to do a fun shoot that made her feel sexy. I think we achieved that!
Can I also say how much FUN we had with this?? She totally ROCKED this session!
I mean SERIOUSLY rocked this session.
These pictures make me swoon. :) So glad I was able to make her feel sexy and feminine. You can see the rest in the gallery.
In 2014 I have promised myself to improve my photo skills. I have decided to write down a list of photography related goals that I would like to try out and achieve in 2014. I got my inspiration from a photography blog called Click It Up A Notch, this site is amazing. So many tips, videos, techniques and advice on how to improve your pictures, please check them out I highly recommend it.
My Photography Goals for 2014:
Hello and welcome! My name is Lita Trimmings, I’m new to the blog world, and I have no clue what to say, so here goes nothing!
A Little Something About Me:
I have always loved to look at pictures. Seriously, I can sit for hours and hours looking at pictures. There are so many beautiful and meaningful pictures in the world, I’m usually glued to my computer screen or photo books in awe. My love for photography goes wayyyy back to my elementary school days. I vaguely remember in second, or maybe it was third grade…., running in the school election that year to be the school photographer. I didn’t win sadly, a fifth grader did I believe. But that’s OK, I didn’t let that stop me, fast forward a few years and I’m in high school sitting in a photography class. I took as many as I could and learned so much about film photography and how to develop my own film and how to utilize a dark room. My senior year I even won an award and a fancy pin! I actually got an award…..Who would have thought?!
Fast forward a few more years after high school when I had my first “big girl” job. With my earnings from this job I bought all the fixings and equipment needed to make a dark room, I used it all about 2 or 3 times, then stored everything since I didn’t have much time for it. Sometimes you have to set things aside and come back to them later to realize that it’s still something you love and have always loved.
I think I can honestly say the last five years have been the best. It all started in 2009, with my “big girl” job, but that’s not nearly as amazing as something else that happened later that year, I met the man of my dreams. In 2010 we were engaged. 2011 we were married, and 2012 we rescued the cutest, silliest, sweetest beagle mix anyone could ever hope to give a forever home to. But 2013 has brought a lot of changes to my life, I worked 3 different jobs, have met so many wonderful people, moved into a new house in a new town. The last five years have been amazing to me, and 2014, I have big plans for you and I think you and I will get along just fine.
The purpose of this blog and website is to give me a place to post my work for family and friends to see. Also so I can receive feedback and critiques in hope to only improve in every aspect. Thank you for reading and now let’s get this journey started! xoxo
